General Description of the Position: The student life program is essential to the fulfilment of CWA’s mission, values and educational philosophy. The Dean of student life role provides leadership in maintaining a safe, secure, healthy, and positive living environment in line with CWA child protection policy and local authorities’ regulations that enhances students’ development both academically and personally. As part of CWA leadership team, the post holder works closely with Academics team to maximize the students’ retention rate, parents satisfaction level and school objectives achievement. Dean of student life actively communicates with all stake holders the promotion of CWA residential life. He/she is in charge of HSIB&MS Boarding program, Student life office, Sports and student activities, psychological counseling office, MS homeroom team and health center. Direct Reports Reports to: Chinese Principal Main duties and responsibilities 1. Overall leadership in student life (MS&HSIB): ? Liaise with the Marketing & Admissions Department to obtain new students' information. ? Organize the new student registration process and work with the Academics teams (IB & MS) to conduct new student orientation programs. ? Collaborate with the Chinese Principal to design and deliver residential, health, and well-being education programs aligned with the academic curriculum (IB & MS). ? Provide leadership and supervision to the Student Life staff, including Boarding Heads, Student Life Officer, Ayi, Psychological Counselors, and School Nurses. ? Oversee performance monitoring, reporting, and professional development for all direct reports. ? Responsible for crisis response and risk management in residential life, including developing and implementing emergency protocols. ? Act as the designated safeguarding lead, taking responsibility for all child protection issues at the school. ? Develop and enforce the CWA Code of Conduct to promote positive student development and behavior ? Organize and manage the provision of care and support services, including social-emotional counseling and physical health services. ? Manage extreme student cases, such as bullying, extreme behaviors, or conflicts with teachers. ? Oversee and organize parent conferences related to MS boarding issues (individual and scheduled). ? Monitor and communicate student attendance and leaves of absence related to MS boarding. ? Oversee and organize night studies and school assemblies. ? Oversee Boarding Heads, Psychological Counselors, and School Nurses in report writing and performance monitoring. ? Respond to parents' requests or concerns escalated by Student Life staff. 2. Residential Life (MS&HSIB) ? Communicate with parents regarding serious concerns related to student behavior and welfare within the residential environment. ? Act as a liaison between faculty, HSIB advisors, and parents regarding academic issues. ? Organize and oversee discipline-related processes and procedures. ? Oversee the approved activities program during the week and on weekends (when applicable). 3. Administrative and personnel management (MS&HSIB) · Working in collaboration with the Operations Department to ensure the effective day-to-day management and operation of the residential areas of the School including the training, supervision and performance management of all full-time, part-time, and temporary staff. · Coordinate with government authorities to prepare necessary documentation and facilitate inspections and audits as required. · Manage student enrollment (Xue Ji) in compliance with government regulations, ensuring students meet requirements for Zhong Kao and high school admission. · Participate in government-organized activities, sharing sessions, and competitions (e.g., KunCheng pastoral group). · Conduct forward planning: o Induction programs for new students and residential staff o Allocation of students to dormitories (LINC) ? Conduct regular security check, and program risk analysis. 4. ECA/Clubs (MS&HSIB) · Coordinate all after-school activities for both Middle school and HSIB 5. Sports Teams and Tournaments (MS&HSIB) · As the line manager of sports center, oversee sports teams and tournament for both Middle school and HSIB. · Ensure the effective organization of external sports leagues and competitions. 6. Development of MS homeroom team · Update the work framework and workload of MS Homeroom teachers. · Provide necessary training and support to MS Homeroom teachers to enhance their effectiveness. As part of CWA leadership team, the Dean of Student life may be delegated other administrative responsibilities by the Chinese Principal.
